After recycables move up the incline conveyor belt on the right, they fall onto disc screens that are made up of spinning rods. When glass hits the spinning rods, it shatters into small pieces. Everything less than 2.5 inches will fall through the gaps between the rods. The screened material then will get sent via barge to Sims' glass plant in Jersey City, where plastic and metal will be removed from the mix and glass will be separated by color.
