Moreover, we actively manage your professional development, training and career progression. For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for an IT Network Engineer at EUMETSAT. Tasks The corporate ICT environment supports the generic office computing needs of EUMETSAT. It does not support any of the satellite control and operations activities nor satellite product generation and distribution, which are based on a separate, dedicated infrastructure. The ICT network is a fully redundant routedswitched one, with logically separated VLANs. The ICT network is Cisco network with four WSC6509 core switches and 30 3750 distribution and 40 3750 access switches is fully redundantly configured. Currently WSC6509 core switches are being replaced by Nexus 7000 series switches. The Key person in the ICT Service Support Group, will perform system administration and maintenance for the corporate ICT environment. The foreseen detailed tasks, in order of relevance and to be shared with another team member, include as a minimum Design, operate and maintain the active components of the Network Infrastructure Liaise with external parties for the operation and maintenance of the Phone System Liaise with external parties for the operation and maintenance of the Security System Firewalls, VPN and RSA Infrastructure Monitor the Internet access service Liaise with 3rd parties and ISP for support Monitor the traffic Operate and maintain the Technical rooms Keep log book of activities Liaise with 3rd parties e.g. AC, power Monitor power consumption Plan and coordinate the removal and installation of racks and IT equipment Monitor physical access Maintain network cable infrastructure fibre and copper Plan and coordinate the installation of new cables Troubleshoot connectivity issue due to faulty wiring Provide physical network connectivity to IT equipment servers, desktops, printers etc Activate and configure VLAN network sockets Patch devices Operate and maintain the KVM system Add and removal of servers to the system Access control to the system logs keeper Maintain System Design and Operations documentation. Provide user 2nd and 3rd level support for service requests and incidents linked to the Network system and the Infrastructure cables, active components and to the Internet access service. Contribute to the procurement of information technology services, systems and components by providing specifications and performing price inquiries Act as interface with hardware and software suppliers regarding procurement, warranty and maintenance issues. Monitor and manage the Infrastructure and Network monitoring systems HP Openview NNM, CiscoWorks, Packeteer and APC management system In the performance of these tasks, the key person shall apply the ICT working practices for Quality management Configuration and change control System operations and maintenance. Essential requirements The key person is required to have as a minimum University degree in Information Technology or comparable discipline Cisco CCNP certification or minimum 5 years of experience in an operational environment Network design skills using Cisco Nexus 7000 series switches Good knowledge of and experience in operation and maintenance of Cisco switches Network cabling infrastructure configuration control, patching, media type etc Firewall VPN. For supporting documentation tasks, experience is required with Microsoft Office Suite, including MSVisio. In addition, experience with the following shall be considered an advantage Palo Alto Firewalls Juniper VPN WLAN Infrastructure Big IP F5 Load Balancer Cisco Works DNS VOIP systems ISO 9000 certified project and service environment ITIL and hands on experience in change and configuration management. Demonstrated capability of technical authoring of network system requirements specification, including document structuringorganisation, and of creating and working with technical network diagrams Visio. Ability to present verbally and in writing complex network solutions and systems in a comprehensible way, with the specific ability to explain relevant details while keeping the focus on the overall system aspects. Ability to translate IT jargon into customer business terms. Other Information Start date is 1st June 2014 Fluency in English is mandatory.
