IT and Network Engineer Telespazio VEGA Deutschland has been supporting the European Space Industry for over 30 years, including ESA, DLR, EUMETSAT and CNES. This is an opportunity for an experienced ITNetwork engineer to work in the space domain. This position is based in Germany, Kln area, working at our clients site, DLRMUSC. RESPONSIBILITIES DUTIES The Microgravity User Support Center MUSC is supporting the users of space assets with the preparation and performance of experiments under zero and microgravity conditions. In the frame of an ESA third party project, the following operational tasks need to be carried out for the preparation and utilization of facilities on the International Space Station Concept development, upgrading and administration of the data processing systems for the Ground Segments of the Rosetta Lander and EuCROPIS these data systems include backup, mission planning, tracking, configuration, securitygateway, data dissemination and TMTC systems Support to the creation of operational interface test plans and procedures for the EuCROPIS project Further development and expansion of the central mission backup system Conceptual design, test and implementation of a virtual network, including virtual client and server architecture. Support of the development of mature methods and procedures, for the centralization of Ground Segment data, aiming at providing them to all DLR institutes and external space partners all over Europe Transfer of existing network and server architecture to virtual environments Independent error detection, correction and analysis within complex clientserver environments and virtual networks Support and administration of the local office and project PCs within the intranet Appropriate documentation of the work done, including configuration control and documentation management Support to projects through the development of operational software and through testing and implementing of new software tools QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE University degree in Information Technology or equivalent Several years relevant working experience ESSENTIAL SKILLS Knowledge of the assembly and operation of networks LAN and WLAN Detailed knowledge of TCPIP, VPN and IPsec protocols Very good knowledge of operating systems such as Linux, Windows, MacOS Strong competence in the domain of virtualisation Hypervisor VMware vSphere and Redhat KVM Strong knowledge of internet and database applications e.g. PostgresSQL, MySQL, PHP, HTML Experience with managing databases and data exchange formats Good knowledge of programming and scripting languages e.g. LabView, Python Willingness to work in a team Proficient use of the English language DESIRABLE SKILLS Knowledge of physical and logical interfaces of mission control centres and their facilities Experience with data and documentation management systems Good knowledge of the IT security domain BENEFITS Competitive salary plus a comprehensive benefits package including 30 days holiday, generous training possibilities, and the Telespazio VEGA Deutschland pension scheme is offered to the successful candidate.
