Infineon profit, sales up, helped by strong dollar

German chip maker Infineon Technologies AG said Thursday its first-quarter net profit and revenue rose on the year as strength in the dollar compensated for the seasonal dip in demand. Net profit for the quarter ended Dec. 31 rose to 136 million euros compared with EUR87 million in the year-earlier period.
