J2933 JAVAWeb Developer Summary An experienced fullstack Java Developer minimum 3 years commercial experience looking for an exciting career in the development of space related applications and services. Objective To join our experienced software team developing applications and services within the space and geographic information domain. Development tasks will be undertaken in both the frontend user interface and the backend services using a variety of modern technologies as appropriate to the specific project. Responsibilities Duties Software design to implement the features requirements compatible with the application and platform architecture. Implementation of the software source code Unit testing of the software Creation of demonstrationtest scripts for features developed Delivering the above to agreed timescales and quality Interfacing with customers for technical discussions Application of engineering process e.g. configuration management, software lifecycle, version control, etc Qualifications Experience Degree qualified relevant degree with Software Engineering modules, or equivalent experience. Ideally the candidate will have at least 3 years commercial experience of JavaWeb development. Essential Skills Good understanding of software lifecycles waterfall and Agile Strong experience with the JAVA Development Language API JAVA Enterprise JEE JAVA Persistence API JPA, RESTful JAXRS Web application development javascript, HTMLCSS, JQuery, PHP, Python Web application servers Tomcat, JBoss, Wildfly etc. Configuration management Git source code control Linux development, shell scripting basic administration and either option 1 Spring Framework or option 2 Web content management in particular Drupal PHP Relational Database design and management e.g. MySQL, PostgreQL Object oriented design Experience of software integration and test Website administration internet security Network administration Microsoft Office Excel, Word Desirable Skills Eclipse IDE Web application frameworks e.g. Grails JIRA JIRA Agile Agile Scrum development methodology Continuous integration environments Jenkins Scripting e.g. shell, perl, python Development of web services client and server Development of webbased interactive data visualization and reports and preferably a background understanding including one of Scientific knowledge or experience of climate weather data or agricultural modelling. Knowledge of Earth Observation ground segments Statistical techniques e.g. linear regression, principle component analysis, uncertainties with either option 1 Applications and protocols used for servingmanaging geographical data e.g GeoNetwork, OGC protocols ESGF THREDDS or some of option 2 Big data, Hadoop, etc Mathematical language, especially R AngularJS Nagios Puppet Ansible OAuth 2.0 Experience of DevOps project process Qualities Strong written and oral communication Team player, open and keen to contribute Selfmotivated willing to learn new skills and take on new challenges Conscientious, hard working Attention to detail
