(Telecompaper) KPN Ventures announced it is participating in a capital increase at France-based Actility, a provider of network solutions and managed information systems for the Internet of Things market. The Dutch operator's venture capital arm will take a minority stake in Actility and work with the company to develop the IoT in the Netherlands. Both Actility and KPN are founding members of the LoRa alliance, aimed at developing a global standard for long range low power (LoRa) connectivity to enable the Internet of Things, M2M, smart city and industrial applications. As previously communicated, KPN plans to introduce LoRa in the Netherlands before the end of the year. Foxconn's European venture capital partner Ginko Ventures, Orange and Swisscom also participated in Actility's financing round totalling USD 25 million.
