Job description For our customer, ESA in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an experienced MICONYSCC Development Activities Engineer. Your responsibilities will be related to the MICONYSCC Core Development activities, in the context of the EGOSCC Project, including Ground data systems applications as Service Areas. The MICONYSCC Core Development activities will include development, integration and validation during the EGSCC development project itself. Responsibilities Typical activities to be undertaken are Contribution to the definition of processestooling supporting the EGOSCC Development activities Collection of technical requirements to contribute to the EGOSCC system level design activities Collection of technical requirements to contribute to the EGOSCC system level integration and validation activities Definition of technical guidelines for developers of EGOSCC Components Contribution to the technical definition of the design model for EGOSCC Components, with particular focus to the ones required by the MICONYSCC Product Contribution to the verification of compliance of MICONYSCC Core components to the applicable specification The following Service Areas shall be covered EGSCC Integration Releases forming the basis for MICONYSCC Core EGOSCC System Design and Integration MICONYSCC core This is a fulltime position as a Terma employee for placement at ESOC, Darmstadt, Germany, starting on 1st January 2017. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have a Master degree or equivalent in a scientific discipline, or other suitable qualification. Essential Skills are Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems Support provision will be exclusively in English Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel Familiarity with the relevant ground data systems applications and associated test environment Familiarity with scripting languages e.g. Groovy Familiarity with continuous integration activities and tooling Specific skills are Excellent knowledge of the Java language, preferably with an official Oracle certification Concrete understanding of the principles of component based software engineering Good working knowledge of the following Java frameworks OSGi, Blueprint, Maven Good working knowledge of the Eclipse development environment Prior knowledge of the EGSCC is highly desirable Prior knowledge of the ESOC Mission Control System infrastructure is highly desirable The following deliverables are required Technical notes defining the development guidelines for EGOSCC Components Design model of MICONYSCC Components Reference implementations for EGOSCC Components MICONYSCC Core components Automated component level validation tests for MICONYSCC Components Documentation of any identified software problem in the relevant SPR database Informal reports e.g. emails reporting the main outputs of the validation and troubleshooting activities Attendance of technical and coordination meetings at ESOC The following experience would be an additional asset Familiarity with ESA organisation and way of working Experience in working in a team Familiarity with the ESOC working environment and Quality Management System QMS Knowledge of satellite or ground operations, or nonspace operational environments You shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan your work and cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. You shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communication skills verbal and written are important. You shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. As necessary you will be located offsite with access to ESOC technical facilities.
