Dell has started selling a thin and light touchscreen laptop called the XPS 13 Developer Edition, which will have Ubuntu Linux OS and Intel's fourth-generation Core processors, code-named Haswell. The laptop, code-named Sputnik, has a 13.3-inch touchscreen and will run on Ubuntu 12.04 OS. It is priced starting at $1,249.99 and is available in the U.S.

Microsoft sole Windows RT tablet vendor as Dell's XPS 10 is 'unavailable'

Dell's XPS 10 tablet models with Windows RT have been removed from the company's website, which analysts said could leave Microsoft as the only vendor selling ARM-based tablets running versions of Windows RT. The XPS 10 Web page lists models of the tablet as being "unavailable," and points users to the Latitude 10 tablet, which runs Windows 8 and has an Intel Atom processor. Microsoft, which sells Surface RT, is now the only device maker selling a tablet with Windows RT.

Thanks in large part to the Raspberry Pi, cheap little computers continue to be all the rage. Most of the time, though, these little computers aren't products of the big name hardware manufacturers. Dell has apparently taken note of the tiny computer market, and has responded with the oft-rumored Project Ophelia, a $100 Android-powered USB stick PC that plugs into any monitor's HDMI slot.
