Small volcanoes could slow down global warming: study

2014-11-19 15:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed

Agence France-Presse: SMALL VOLCANIC ERUPTIONS could be slowing global warming by spewing out sulphur molecules that can reach the upper atmosphere and reflect sunlight away from the Earth, US scientists said on Tuesday. Researchers have long known that volcanoes can protect against global warming, but they did not think that minor eruptions did much to the atmosphere.
