Location ESRIN, Frascati, Italy Description Copernicus Ground Segment Service Engineer, Copernicus Ground Segment Operation Services Section, Copernicus Ground Segment Data Management Division, Mission Management Ground Segments Department, Directorate of Earth Observation Programmes. As part of the ESA team responsible for Copernicus Space Component Ground Segment operations, the postholder will participate in the preparation and followup of activities associated with that Segments operations, maintenance and adaptation. Duties The main duties will be contributing to activities necessary to operate, maintain and develop the Copernicus Space Component mission data flows, ensuring endtoend operations performance and robustness contributing to activities related to the definition, industrial implementation and verification of the transition of Copernicus Ground Segment operational systems to a cloud architecture contributing to reengineering data production software activities for adaptation to a cloud environment managing the relevant procurements, from invitation to tender to contract kickoff and contract execution phase contributing to management of collaborative Ground Segment technical agreements and operational interfaces contributing to management of Ground Segment technical operational interfaces with international partners contributing to reporting and risk management of Space Component operations in relation to activities performed under own responsibility. Technical competencies Experience in design, development and maintenance of EO Ground Segment Systems and Operations Experience in architecting scalable and distributed systems for big data operations Experience in cloud computing technologies Experience with satellite payload data processing and data management operations Behavioural competencies Communication Planning Organisation Problem Solving Teamwork Innovation Creativity Education Applicants should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or Earth data science together with 5 to 10 years experience in space mission engineering and operations. Data Processing System Engineer

We are looking for a Systems and Applications Engineer, who will support the Processing Applications Engineering team at EUMETSAT, Darmstadt. You will be challenged with a large variety of tasks supporting the routine operations of GEO and LEO Earth Observation mission as well as the operations preparation of furtue missions. Responsibilities Duties At our customer EUMETSAT you will be tasked with the maintenance and evolution of the facilities and systems of different Earth Observation missions such as the EUMETSAT Polar System EPS, Jason, or Meteosat Second Generation MSG. This includes a wide range of tasks, from the support of the daytoday operations and maintenance, to the handling of anomalies, upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. Prof. Steve Parkes of University of Dundee, and Chief Technology Officer of STARDundee, wrote the SpaceWire standard for ESA with inputs from international spacecraft engineers. The SpaceWire standard was published in 2003 and is now being used or designed into more than 100 spacecraft costing well over 30 billion. Space missions relying on SpaceWire technology include Earth observation, scientific, exploration and commercial spacecraft. STARDundee chip designs are being used on many of these spacecraft and our test and development equipment is being used during their design, integration and test. Over the past several years STARDundee in collaboration with the University of Dundee has been developing a new highavailability, highreliability, multiGbits network technology for space applications, called SpaceFibre. SpaceFibre runs over electrical and fibre optic cable and is set to become the next generation of spacecraft onboard network technology, due to its innovative quality of service and fault detection, isolation and recovery capabilities. The SpaceFibre technology developed by STARDundee is used in the RC64 64 core DSP processor developed by Ramon Chips in Israel. STARDundee is a Microsemi partner providing SpaceWire and SpaceFibre interfaces for the Microsemi RTAX, RTG4 and forthcoming radiation tolerant FPGAs. STARDundee is a major partner in a series of ESA and UK Space Agency projects led by Rutherford Appleton Laboratories which is developing THz radiometer technology for space applications.
