It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy for a Payload Systems Engineer Electrical has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Responsible for the design, analysis, development and test of Instrument and Payload electrical systems hardware and components, including DC power, digital and analogue signals transmission, command control interfaces, telemetry and onboard data handling. Responsible for derivation of Instrument and Payload electrical systems requirements from top level mission, system or payload specifications, ensuring adequate reliability and safety considerations. Creation of innovative electrical systems solutions for various Instrument and Payload applications. Responsible for development and maintenance of Instrument and Payload electrical systems performance and budgets for both active synthetic aperture radars radar altimeters scatterometers and passive microwave instruments radiometers sounders. Supporting overall spacecraft electrical systems performance analysis to enable. Managing Instrument and Payload electrical systems designdevelopmentverification tasks or work packages through to completion within the designated performance, schedule and cost requirements. Derivation of key performance parameters and apportionment for specification on procured equipment and subassemblies with appropriate margins, including interface definitions and EMCRFC requirements. Prepare engineering documents, requirement specifications, perform analyses, generate verification and design justification files. Support to Instrument and Payload integration, test and verification in respect of electrical systems aspects. Provide support to analysis of instrument test data. Preparation and delivery of technical presentations to customers. Responsibility for work packages, delegating to and supporting other members of the department as necessary and controlling cost and schedule to deliver the required outputs. Subcontractor technical management where products are being procured from external suppliers, including review of technical proposals and other technical documentation, participation in technical negotiations, attending progress meetings and design reviews at the suppliers and at the customers premises, ensuring delivery of products which meet the requirements. Support to technical proposal preparation. Support to peer reviews of studies, projects and proposals. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree or MSc in Physics, Electronics or related Engineering discipline. Proven capability in power analogue digital electrical design with a successful product portfolio. The role will require a thorough understanding of the potential interaction and control of mixed signals in a complex spaceborne instrument system. Solid understanding of fundamental electrical theory and analysis methods, and ability to apply this from first principles in practical applications to create innovative solutions to problems. Solid understanding of common standard digital interfaces, electrical power distribution, electrical transmission methods and theory, grounding and bonding, and electromagnetic compatibility. Solid understanding of failure analysis and mitigation techniques, and safety regulations to ensure Reliability and Safety requirements are met. Requirements The key person shall have Fluency in English A University degree in a relevant engineering discipline A demonstrated knowledge and direct experience in the area of specification, design, implementation, verification and maintenance of communications systems. A demonstrated ability to analyse complex systems and present them in a comprehensible way to across other technical and managerial domains In depth experience in working within Project Management methodologies e.g. PrinceII, ideally with the Aerospace and Satellite business area Experience with estimating and scheduling of multiple concurrent technical activities such that milestones and their likely achievement can be communicated. Communication skills, in terms of experience in authoring technical and project documentation Evidence of having worked with customers and stakeholders to extract and document business or crossdomain requirements Experience in the design and delivery of test plans Internet Protocol network design, specification, documentation, testing, fault finding, and evolution. Indepth knowledge of Cisco design methodologies, technologies and solutions. Familiarity with the trend to virtualise the above technologies Security skills associated with securing the communication system e.g. firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, strong authentication Skills appropriate to associated domains e.g. computing clientserver, storage, dissemination Network performance monitoring in terms of both the network and the applicationssystems it supports.
