Trucking industry representatives looking for a friendly venue where they might vent their frustrations with federal regulators found one Wednesday in the hearing room of the House Transportation committee. There members of the subcommittee on highways received testimony on behalf of carriers large and small, from the motorcoach industry and even from regulatory enforcement, each with its own set complaints about the way the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has strayed from its safety mission and initiatives that delivered results to become an agency focused on niggling details that have little to do with crash prevention.

Water complaints lessen, but measures continue

The Leigh Street Water Plant is now receiving fewer calls about foul taste and discoloration of water than it has over the past few weeks, according to Clay Samples, superintendent of the water plant. One of the main arguments for the trade groups and ISPs that have filed six-yes, six-lawsuits against the U.S. Federal Communications Commission's net neutrality rules is that the agency violated a 69-year-old administrative procedure law in crafting the new regulations. The two ISPs and four trade groups filing lawsuits in recent days have challenged the FCC's decision-as part of the new net neutrality rules-to reclassify broadband as a regulated, common-carrier service, instead of its long-standing classification of broadband as a lightly regulated information service.

Indications are that the dispute over the Federal Communications Commission's new Net neutrality rules might just be settled in court. Cogent Communications, which controls parts of the Internet backbone, is preparing to file complaints with the FCC, charging Internet service providers Comcast, Time Warner Cable, AT&T, Verizon, and CenturyLink with improperly degrading Internet Cogent CEO Dave Schaeffer told the National Journal that if those companies continue to refuse to provide their customers "with access to the entire Internet on an unfettered basis .
