We are looking for an experienced, senior engineer to lead our 6person propulsion team in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The Propulsion Manager will continue the development of our proprietary hybrid rocket motor increasing our capability from 75 Kn of thrust as demonstrated in our last testfire, and develop smaller thrust motors for our upper stage vehicle. Minimum Requirements The candidate should have at least 10 years of handson work experience with rocket motors system lifecycle phases 0E, including design, test, integration and operational use. Experience in fluid systems related to rocket motors. Experience in solid rocket motors or hybrids would be advantageous and preferred. Ability to work towards demanding deadlines, to problemsolve, innovate and manage technical risks with agility. Fully conversant with International standards ECSSMilstdNASA etc. Ability to model with CAD InventorSolidworks ideally and Fluid dynamics toolsets e.g. ASTOS. Chemical engineering, composite experience, and Lean manufacturing considered as a desired asset. The position will report to the Head of Rocket Design Development, and be based at our facility in Gold Coast, Australia.

Key areas of responsibility include Team Management Effectively managing the current team of 8 highly skilled and experienced test engineers, recruitment of new team members and continual development and mentoring of the team whilst building a great team culture Test Operations Scheduling and undertaking test operations to ensure activities meet current company deadlines and milestones Test Facility Plan facility test activities with Test Facility Manager and ensuring facilities meet test requirements and test schedules. This newly created position offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced manufacturing engineer to join Rocket Labs Propulsion Team. As Propulsion Manufacturing Engineer you will work with the team to develop and improve the production of Rocket Labs Rutherford Engine components and assemblies. Working closely with the RD team in Auckland you will also interact daily with Rocket Labs Production Facility in Huntington Beach, USA, as well as working with a global network of suppliers. Key tasks will include troubleshooting of detail component defects up to developing new assembly tooling fixtures and procedures and working with the design team to improve production time and quality.
