After a long lull, Google has finally revealed its next play for Chrome OS: Slipping the Chrome-based operating system into Windows 8, like a Trojan horse. The new alpha version of Chrome for Windows 8 is essentially Chrome OS: Open it in the Metro interface, and you get a multi-window interface, with a taskbar and app launcher, that looks and feels a lot like Chrome OS. With development and adoption of Chrome OS seemingly at a standstill, is this Google's gambit to finally push its other operating system into the hands of consumers.

One of the biggest brand advantages Microsoft has over Sony during the Xbox 360 and PS3 generation is its controller. Love the Xbox 360 gamepad or hate it, it works wonderfully with compatible PC games -- simply plug and play. Meanwhile, Sony's DualShock 3 worked, but it required third party drivers. This time around, Sony is looking to get its DualShock 4 into the world of PC gaming, and will make its controller work with PCs right out of the box.

Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system may become an option on HTC's Android-based smartphones, Bloomberg reported. Terry Myerson, head of Microsoft's operating systems unit, made the request to HTC last month, according to unnamed sources, and will meet with senior HTC executives in Taiwan later this month to discuss the idea. Further, Microsoft may be trying to line up new OEMs.
