Disney+ launches early in Netherlands with free trial period

(Telecompaper) Disney has launched its new subscription VoD service Disney+ already in the Netherlands. The company is offering a free trial period until the official launch date on 12 November. After that, the service will cost EUR 6.99 per month.

(Telecompaper) The media sector was all about streaming video, last week. Walt Disney made new announcements about its upcoming SVOD service Disney+, closely followed by reports on Apple's TV+ service. The TPSI Global Media index however lost 1.8 percent, against a loss of 1.4 percent for the S&P 500. The best performers included Australia's Nine Entertainment (+13%) and troubled comScore (+12%). At the other extreme we find Spotify (-6.6%), Salem Media (-6.5%) and Lions Gate (-6.2%).

New global launch dates confirmed for Disney+

The Walt Disney Companys Direct-to-Consumer and International (DTCI) segment has confirmed that Disney+ will launch in Canada and the Netherlands, in tandem with the U.S., on November 12 and in Australia and New Zealand on November 19.

(Telecompaper) Disney announced that its new subscription streaming service Disney+ will also launch in Canada, the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand in November, alongside the US. The company also announced which devices will support delivery of the streaming service, saying it has reached global agreements with nearly all the major platforms to distribute the Disney+ app. The service is expected to roll out in most major markets within the next two years.

Charter agrees deal to distribute Disney streaming services

Charter Communications (NASDAQ: CHTR) and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) have agreed terms for the continued deliver of Disney content to Spectrum customers. The deal also covers Charters future distribution of Disneys streaming services, including Hulu, ESPN+ and the upcoming Disney+.
