Indonesia's apparel exports have continued recovering in the second quarter of 2018, partly due to strong sales to other Asian countries, including Japan, South Korea or even Singapore. Shipments to the US market have remained flat whereas also weak to the European Union. The higher production costs are limiting sales to Western countries wathever the fall of the rupiah. Our statistical series provide a comprehensive picture of Indonesia's textile and clothing exports and imports, per month, year and destination, with an exhaustive review of US and EU imports per product category.

Bangladesh has become the largest supplier of the European Union in knit clothing categories in volume, but also in value terms. China is rapidly losing ground in most categories of products, due to a rise of its unit prices. Competitors of both suppliers have less benefited form China's setback than Bangladesh with results being very different depending on categories and origins, as usual.
