T-Mobile US promotes COO Sievert to CEO

(Telecompaper) T-Mobile US announced the promotion of COO Mike Sievert to CEO, from 01 May 2020 when the current CEO John Legere's contract expire. Legere will remain a member of the board. The news follows reports that parent company Deutsche Telekom was working on a change in management, ahead of the planned T-Mobile merger with Sprint.

T-Mobile accelerates growth on Dutch broadband market in Q3 as KPN loses customers again

(Telecompaper) Both Ziggo and KPN lost customers on the consumer broadband market in Q3. Ziggo blamed the drop in its consumer base on price increases implemented in July. The cable operator still increased its total customer base by 8,000, thanks to expansion in the small business segment. Ziggo ended the quarter with almost 3.35 million broadband subscribers, maintaining the market lead.

T-Mobile, Vodafone lead growth in Dutch postpaid market in Q3 as KPN struggles

(Telecompaper) KPN added just 5,000 retail postpaid subscribers in Q3, while losing 48,000 prepaid Sims in the same period. The incumbent's total retail mobile base, including secondary brands, is down 5.6 percent year-on-year, and its market share has fallen by over 2 percent points in the past 12 months to 38.3 percent (excluding MVNO market).

(Telecompaper) The Telecompaper European Telecoms Services index was down 0.3 percent in week 45, versus a gain of 2.1 percent for the EuroStoxx 50 index. The week was heavy with earnings reports, with some M&A news. Tele Columbus was the best stock to own last week, up 15 percent. At a closing price of EUR 2.45 it has come off considerably from its low of EUR 1.29 in early June. BT's loss of 8.0 percent put it among the week's worst losers. The company stands to lose Virgin Mobile as an MVNO customer from 2021.

T-Mobile offers free broadband to 10 million Americans in a bid to finalise Sprint merger

US mobile network carrier, T-Mobile, has offered to provide free mobile hotspots for up to 10 million low income families in the US, as it tries to gain final approval for its proposed merger with Sprint.
