2014-10-17 11:33:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Visa and MasterCard have announced that cardholders in the US will be able to use Apple Pay, Apple's new payment service, starting 20 October. The companies confirmed that iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 users with Visa or MasterCard cards will be able to initiate mobile purchase at over 220,000 merchant locations in the US or at the App Store with a single touch. To get started with Apple Pay, cardholders can simply add a credit card from their iTunes account. Alternatively, they can add new credit cards to Apple Pay by using the iSight camera on their phone. Each card receives a device-only account number, so the actual credit card number is never stored on the user's phone or on Apple's servers.
