The 17th Annual Food Safety Summit went ahead as planned in Baltimore, US, recently with contingency plans in place to avoid an outbreak which saw more than 200 people sick from food poisoning last year. The organisers of the event, BNP Media said it received a detailed investigation report from the Office of Infectious Disease and Outbreak Response at the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene claiming the pan seared breast of Chicken Marsala was the food item most commonly consumed by afflicted cases at the 2014 Food Safety Summit at Baltimore Convention Center .

Report on GM Crops indicates effect on global food security.

According to "GM Crops: Global Socio-Economic and Environmental Impacts 1996–2013", economic benefits for farmers using genetically modified (GM) seeds amounted to average of over $122/hectare in 2013. This report, released by PG Economics, cites more productive agriculture, higher farmer incomes, and improved environment for citizens in this 18th year of "widespread adoption." BIO's Matt O'Mara said these findings regarding environment are especially significant.
