About a week before the last Board of Supervisors meeting in late June, Virginia Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs John C. Harvey Jr. was told by one his aides about a controversial plan to redesignate land near Fort Eustis. Officials on the base were apprehensive about the plan, which they said could interfere with their operations and lead to increased noise complaints because of the active airfield on the site.

Realtor 'boot camp' aims to help veterans

A "boot camp" for Realtors designed to train real estate professionals to help active duty and former military clients will be held Thursday, July 9, at the Kitsap Conference Center at Bremerton Harborside. The event, hosted by Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, will conduct Certified Military Residential Specialist training for real estate agents.
