Researchers find new, ultra-low-level method of hacking CPUs and theres no way to detect it
2013-09-16 19:34:34| Extremetech
Researchers have demonstrated a new method of cracking a CPU's random number generator -- and if done properly, there's no method to detect it, even with close visual inspection.
Viscometer can detect and measure intrinsic viscosity.
2013-07-30 14:30:06| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
Suited for bio/pharma and polymer applications, m-VROC can detect and measure intrinsic viscosity. Measurement of intrinsic viscosity — used to determine molecular size, weight, structure, and interactions among proteins, polymers, or macromolecules — requires 20 µL and takes minutes. Applications that benefit from this measurement capability are those related to polymerization, degradation, interaction, and stability of molecules. Ohio State Researchers Work on Blood Test to Detect PEDV
2013-07-19 23:08:00| National Hog Farmer
Source: Ohio State University The National Pork Board has funded a six-month study at Ohio State University's (OSU) College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences to develop a unique way to test and trace the spread of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PED) virus. PED virus, first detected in the United States this spring, has spread to 16 states and impacted hundreds of hog operations. read more
Training Cards help users detect chemical weapon threats.
2013-07-11 14:30:12| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
Intended for military, public safety officials, and emergency first responders, NDP Chemical Weapon ID Training Cards are dynamic, interactive classroom tools that utilize words, information, images, and rub-for-scent technology to optimize chemical weapons ID training through sight, touch, and scent. Scent is activated by vigorously rubbing finger back and forth across printed side of the card. Each NDP training card set comes in self-contained Training Card Briefcase. MIT researchers measure your pulse, detect heart abnormalities with smartphone camera
2013-06-21 21:30:28| Extremetech
Last year, a group of researchers from MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL) showed us just how easy it is to "see" the heartbeat in ordinary video footage. With a little filtering, a little averaging, and a touch of turn-of-the-century (1900) mathematical analysis, the telltale color changes in the skin associated with the peak pressure pulse of the heart can be seen by anyone. The CSAIL researchers have now rejiggled their algorithms to optimize instead for detection of the subtle head motions that are associated with each beat.
