Japan Display losses grow to JPY 83 bln in Q1 after asset writedowns

(Telecompaper) Japan Display recorded a net loss of JPY 83.3 billion for its fiscal first quarter to June, widening from a loss of JPY 1.8 billion due to a charge to write-down scrapped production facilities. Revenues fell 12.5 percent to JPY 90.4 billion as the company suffered from reduced smartphone demand and the US-China trade tensions.

KPN leads decline in Dutch TV subscribers in Q2 as Ziggo slows losses

(Telecompaper) KPN lost a net 21,000 subscribers in the three months to June, including 7,000 in IPTV and 14,000 at its digital terrestrial service Digitenne. While the DTT losses are in line with the steady decline in popularity of the service, this is the first quarterly loss in IPTV ever at KPN, according to Telecompaper.

Liberty Global organic video subscriber losses at 54,900 for 2Q 2019

Liberty Global (NASDAQ: LBTYA, LBTYB/LBTYK) has announced results for the second quarter of 2019. The company's continuing operations ended the quarter with 8.44 million video subscribers, a reduction of 54,900 on an organic basis in the quarter.

LG profits fall in Q2 as smartphone losses widen

(Telecompaper) LG Electronics reported a sharp fall in profits in the second quarter, due to widening losses at its smartphone and automotive businesses. While revenues were up 4.1 percent to KRW 15.63 trillion, operating profit dropped 15.4 percent from a year earlier to KRW 652 billion, and net profit more than halved to KRW 106 billion.

US to pay farmers up to $16 billion for trade war losses
