Corning gets USD 250 mln from Apple to further glass development

(Telecompaper) Apple is investing another USD 250 million in Corning to help further the company's development of new glass materials for smart devices. The money comes from Apple's Advanced Manufacturing Fund, set up to support components manufacturers in the US, and follows USD 200 million given to Corning in May 2017.

Digital Realty sells US data centres to Mapletree Investments for USD 1.4 bln

(Telecompaper) Digital Realty announced an agreement to sell 13 data centres to Singapore-based property developer Mapletree Investments and its affiliate Mapletree Industrial Trust for a total of USD 1.4 billion. Mapletree will buy ten existing data centres and an 80 percent stake in a joint venture to operate three additional sites in the US.

Apple intros new iPhone range, to launch games, TV services from USD 5 per month

YouTube fined USD 170 mln for violating children's privacy with tracking cookies

(Telecompaper) Google and its subsidiary YouTube have agreed to pay USD 170 million to settle allegations by the Federal Trade Commission and the New York Attorney General that YouTube illegally collected personal information from children without their parents' consent. This is the largest fine ever under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, first passed in the US in 1998.
