(Telecompaper) Germany's Federal Cartel Office has decided to prohibit Facebook from collecting the data of users from its services WhatsApp and Instragram, as well as third-party websites with Facebook integration. By not obtaining sufficient user consent for collecting the data from other apps and sites, the company abused its dominant position in the market and violated EU personal data protection law, the German regulator said.

(Telecompaper) German operator 1&1 Drillisch said it will apply for admission to the 5G auction with the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA), according to a company statement following a supervisory board meeting. The decision sees the MVNO confirms plans to build its own network and possibly become Germany's fourth mobile operator, if it succeeds in acquiring spectrum rights.
