For almost 20 years, TPZ VEGA has supported the design, development and operations of the Galileo Global Navigation System. Not only do we want to maintain our strong position in Galileo, we want to exploit our expertise in constellation simulators and take it into the growing new space market, which is much more dynamic and diverse than Galileo. If you either have a good understanding of Galileo or of one of the emerging satellite constellations in the new space market, you are the ideal candidate to help us approaching both of these markets in the future, maintaining our longlasting relationship with Galileo, and building up new partnerships outside of the institutional market. ResponsibilitiesDuties Your main responsibility is to create a section that offers a longterm perspective for the staff and a sustainable and growing business for the company. As a section head, you are expected to be about 50 on charge on projects and about 50 off charge managing the section, and winning new work for the section. The management of a section has distinct sets of activities Strategy and Planning. You facilitate the formulation of the vision and strategy of the section with your team, inline with the vision and strategy of the division and department. You are responsible for the evaluation of and reaction to customer satisfaction and you will engage with customers and partners to understand and position us on the market. You translate the vision and strategy into a plan of specific actions to be taken and you manage the execution of this plan. You are responsible for the longterm sustainability of the section and perform farming activities, i.e. identify and manage extensions and change requests to existing contracts. Delivery and Team. You are responsible for the deliveries of the projects within your section, as well as the management of the team working on these projects. This includes resource planning both allocation and recruitment and monitoring of projects. As the supervisor of the section team, you are responsible for administrative tasks e.g. timesheet completion and leave planning, and as well for growth and development of your team, including the annual appraisal process. As a section head, you are part of the department management team. You support the daily operations and will be consulted on required changes and improvements. Your direct line of reporting will be to the Division Head, but you are expected to contribute and interface with both other departments SOP, ICT, SUP, BD, HR as well as with all other parts of the department fellow section heads, division heads, department head. The section size is measured in number of staff and should be between 5 and 15. Ultimate measures of your success will be the profitability of the section as well as its growth to a size where it will have to be split. QualificationsExperience Degree in software engineering or similar At least 3 years experience in space domain Experience in ProjectService Management Essential Skills Good technical knowledge of the domain Motivated and driven, flexible and open, with high development potential Experience of leading teams you will lead by example Good planning skills Good communication skills Desirable Skills Initial network into main customers at technical and management level Outgoing and not afraid of leaving your comfort zone Proven track record in strategic planning Further Details Requirements To be able to work on Galileo, you need to hold a citizenship of one of the EU member states now, and after BREXIT.
