Quantum Crystal helps unlock secrets of magnets.
2015-11-13 14:31:07| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
Scientists at JILA, operated jointly by NIST and the University of Colorado Boulder, made their quantum crystal more valuable by packing about 5 times more molecules into it. Denser crystal will help scientists unlock secrets of magnets and other more exotic materials. Described in the Nov. 6, 2015 issue of Science,* the JILA crystal is useful for studying correlations among the molecules' "spins," or rotations, a quantum behavior related to magnetism.
