Job description Our customer, EUMETSAT, will be managing the routine mission operations of the Sentinel3 low Earth orbiting spacecraft for the European Copernicus programme. The first Sentinel3 spacecraft is scheduled for launch in September 2015. The aims of the Sentinel3 mission include measurement of seasurface topography, see and landsurface temperature, and ocean and landsurface colour in support of ocean forecasting and environmental monitoring. Responsibilities We are looking for a software engineer to support Earth Observation data ingestion and retrieval services for the Sentinel3 mission at EUMETSAT. You will support the operations of Copernicus related missions with respect to EUMETSAT s Data Centre Archive and the related ondemand data access services to users, required for example for calibration, training support or data visualisation purposes. In addition to this it is expected that you will contribute to the enhancement of the provided data services resulting from new user requirements, user feedback and continuous service improvement tasks. Main tasks to be performed are Performing the analysis and reporting of anomalies observed in the Data Centre Archive facility and in executing the operational tasks Acceptance testing and operational validation of new upgrades and enhancements prior to release Analysis and handling of related user enquiries and user requests received from the EUMETSAT Helpdesk Maintenance and updating of Data Centre documentation user guides, format guides, operational procedures, technical notes, etc Support to the configuration of the Archive, Retrieval and Data Access Infrastructure Support to the regular monitoring of the service performance Support to the Archive reporting Support to the development of the NetCDF product formats and the CF metadata standard Provision of conceptsprototypes to support service developments in the EUMETSAT This is a full time position, located at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, and starting in SeptemberOctober 2015, or earlier if possible. Working time is normal office hours. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have an university degree, in a relevant discipline or other suitable qualification. The Copernicus Space Component Data Access system CSCDA is the interface for accessing the Earth Observation EO products from the Copernicus Space Component and it provides a comprehensive and coordinated access to all Copernicus EO space data, from over 30 Copernicus Contributing Missions CCMs. The CSCDA project is managed by ESA as an integral part of the Copernicus Space Component Programme and with funding from the EC. The CSCDA consists of several layers that are in control of different aspects of the overall system. One of these layers is the Coordinated Data Access System CDS.
