One of our Space Clients in Germany is looking for a LEO Configuration Manager. This is a Consultancy Support position. The role would ideally suit a contractor looking for a long term consultancy role within the space industry. The submission deadline for applicants is September 7th 2015. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Managing the documentation under configuration control according to the agreed procedures and supporting the release of relevant configuration listsreports. Act as secretary of Configuration Control Board meetings, prepare and convene the meetings, analyse the proposed engineering changes, prepare the relevant Minutes of Meeting, and notify the external entities as necessary. Follow up the change process with the related action items, to ensure timely information availability on the status of changes. Track versions of hardware and software items and documentation according to the evolution of the configured items. Verify the hardware and software configuration status by performing configuration audits. Maintain up to date the configuration management databases. Support the drafting, review and update of the Product Documentation Trees, generate and maintain the Configuration Item lists. Support the drafting, reviews and update of the Configuration Management Plans and related Working Practice and Procedures. Support the definition and maintenance of Baselines at Programme, System and Ground Segment Levels. Issue Configuration Status Accounting Reports for the configuration items under direct responsibility. Support the definition of Configuration Management Requirements. Support technical reviews for Configuration Management aspects. Support Design Reviews, coordinating the distribution of the datapackage to the reviewers, in coordination with the Information Management function. Contribute to the advertisement and continuous improvements of applicable CM processes, procedures, guidelines. Document and perform validation testing on new Generic Dimensions Framework releases. Contribute to the provision of S.M.A.R.T. requirements for CM Tool enhancements Attend the regular coordination PRS CM meetings, report on the progress of assigned actions, raise issues requiring management attention, and exchange with other PRS CM members on respective experiences and best solutions to address common issues Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree in computer science or engineering. Good English skills are essential. Demonstrated experience of at least 5 years conducting and implementing Configuration Management of large scale, softwarecentred systems in an operational environment, preferably for highavailability 24hday systems like e.g. processingproduction chains, data centres or satellite systems. Experience in Quality Assurance, space system project control andor process modelling of largescale systems with a very good understanding of project development life cycle methodologies would be considered, providing that adequate knowledge and involvement in Configuration Management activities is also demonstrated. Proven significant knowledge and experience in specifying, reviewing and implementing Configuration Management plans, processes and working practices, or at least extensive experience in providing management support to programmes or projects in development Significant experience in project development methodologies, and in particular in configuration management including the definition or review of upstream source code configuration management requirements, control of configuration evolutions of systems software, hardware, databases, satellite and ground system procedures, documents, media, COTS software and COTS Licences, up to the testing and deployment of new releases on configuration controlled environments. Extensive knowledge and experience with configuration management tools e.g. Serena Dimensions CM, Jira or Clearcase or business process management tools electronic workflows. Experience of software development on a medium or large size project. Extensive knowledge and experience with process modelling tools and techniques. Extensive knowledge and experience of a Configuration Management, Quality Assurance or Project Management standard e.g. ISO, ANSI, ECSS, CMMI. Proven experience in planning, developing and implementing training sessions andor coaching sessions to users and stakeholders. The following skills would be highly desirable Experience acquired in the frame of European or International space projects. Administration of a configuration management or business process management tool. SQL programming on Oracle or Sybase, and scripting languages such as perl, python or vb.net. S.M.A.R.T requirements, software testing methodology and tools.

Key Tasks To participate in coordinating the satellite operations activities of other team members and external teams responsible for onboard software management, simulator support, mission control, mission planning, flight dynamics and ground stations. To support system and operations preparation activities, particularly with respect to AOCS related activities. Support to the routine operations of Metop A, B and preparing for MetopC, comprising Provision of operational expertise to the Attitude and Orbit Control System in particular, with support to other platform subsystems andor payload instruments andor onboard software management, satellite simulator and ground segment operations interfaces. Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment. Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary. Spacecraft operations preparation engineering. Low Earth Orbit spacecraft design or Assembly Integration and Test activities at system or subsystem level. Experience with some of the following would be advantageous Inorbit operations of Low Earth Orbit Earth Observation satellites. Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities. The procedure development tool MOIS and the procedure execution language STOL. The mission control systems EPOCH or SCOS. Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements. Familiarity with OnBoard Control Procedure and OnBoard Position Scheduler concepts. Familiarity with the ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard, customisation and usage.
