RHEA is currently recruiting an AIX System Software Engineer to support to all Ground Segment Commissioning and Routine Operations at our clients premises in Darmstadt, Germany. Tasks and Activities Your primary tasks and activities may include installation and configuration of operating system and other software, tuning of operating systems parameters to optimize performance analysis, planning and performance of HW and SW upgrades or reconfigurations, taking care of compatibility issues between subsystems monitoring of the system performance, investigation into HW and system SW problems and performance of the relevant corrective actions ensuring that in case of HW or system SW failures the operational configuration can be restored, including the definition, maintenance, performance of backup procedures liaison with the external providers of HW and system SW maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions administration and installation of databases administration of user accounts support to SW development and maintenance in relation to the utilization of system resources implementation and maintenance of scripts andor procedures where applicable for the automated andor controlled execution of the above activities, generation or update of technical documentation in relation to system upgrades provision of standbyoncall support provision of support, as required, to critical operations. Skills and Experience You must possess the following skills and experience University Degree or equivalent Extensive experience in the administration and troubleshooting of distributed systems. The experience should have been made in an operational or production environment, characterized by custom applications in addition to standard software, running both on the client and server side, and by high availability requirements. Expert knowledge and a significant work experience of the UNIX operating systems, and should be familiar, to the extent required by the performance of the above tasks, with as many as possible of the following system software environments on IBM Systems AIX 6.1 7.1 on IBM pSeries, Bladecenters and PureFlex Systems very good experience on IBM virtualization, including MicroPartitioning, LPAR, VIOS Administration and configuration of IBM pSeries, Bladecenters and PureFlex Systems using HMC and AMM high availability software IBM PowerHA and cluster file system GPFS Ability to perform endtoend system changes from requirements to testing and documentation Good experience with the monitoring tool Nagios Ability to write technical documentation in English The following skills would be highly desirable.
