AWS to acquire Elemental for undisclosed amount

(Telecompaper) Amazon Web Services (AWS) has agreed to acquire Elemental Technologies, specialists in software-defined video solutions for multiscreen content delivery, for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition will combine Elemental's video solutions with the AWS Cloud platform to provide media and entertainment companies with a range of integrated systems to efficiently and economically scale video infrastructures as the media industry increasingly moves to internet based delivery. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Elemental will continue to operate under its existing brand. It will also integrate its offerings and accelerate the innovation of next-generation services with AWS. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter.
