Apparel industry welcomes Obama port intervention

US apparel retailers and manufacturers have welcomed the decision by President Obama to intervene in the West Coast port dispute, calling it a positive step toward a resolution. The Pacific Maritime Association and International Longshore & Warehouse Union have been engaged in talks for nine months on a new coast-wide contract for 20,000 dockworkers - and no end to the dispute is currently in sight.
