Chilean lower house approves 19% tax on OTT providers

(Telecompaper) Chile's chamber of deputies has approved a new value-added tax of 19 percent on multinational providers of over-the-top (OTT) digital services such as Amazon, Netflix, Uber, Airbnb and Spotify, reports local portal Cooperativa. The measure passed by 123 votes in favour, 20 against and 4 abstentions, said the report, adding that transport apps such as Uber and Cabify weren't finally included in the tax, which has yet to become law.
