Chiquita to continue ripening bananas in Gulfport

Chiquita Brands International has announced it will continue ripening bananas in a facility at the Port of Gulfport in Mississippi, despite having relocated the bulk of its shipping operations to New Orleans last fall. The announcement calls into question the status of a deal between Chiquita and Barry Kern, proprietor of Mardi Gras World.
