Colorado Springs computer chip maker acquired

Atmel Corp., which employs about 1,000 workers in a computer chip manufacturing plant in Colorado Springs, has agreed to be acquired by Dialog Semiconductor PLC in a $4.6 billion deal that is expected to be completed early next year. What will happen to the Colorado Springs plant remains unclear.
