Our space client based in Germany are seeking a Copernicus Monitoring Applications Software Engineer to support the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team within the GSI Division in the TSS Department. The closing date for applications is 19.08.2016. Tasks The key person will support the TSS Department as a member of the Mission Control. Applications and Tools Team, which is part of the GSI Division. The Mission Control Applications and Tools MCAT Team is responsible for the maintenance. and development of the following Mission Control Applications Spacecraft Monitoring Control, Automation Procedure Execution and Schedule Execution. Local Applications Monitoring Control. Onboard software management. Flight Dynamics System. Mission Planning System. OpsPrep Tools. Data analysis and reporting tools. Spacecraft Simulator. MMEMon applications GEMS, SMART, SPRS, UNF, TMPropagator. The MCAT Competence Area CA performs the following activities Software engineering and software maintenance of multimission and missionspecific Mission Control Applications and Tools for GEO and LEO missions. Software engineering for the reuse of Mission Control Applications and Tools with the separation between generic kernel and missionspecific extensions. Integration and verification at application and system level. User and software support to flight control teams. Support to the Programme Preparation and Development PRD Department for the PhaseBCD of new missions in the domain of Mission Control Applications. List of tasks The key person will provide hisher prime support to the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team and heshe will support maintenance of the CopernicusSentinel3 Mission Control Applications and MMEMon tools instantiation for Sentinel3 requirements specification, design, development implementation, integration and verification of extensions including future obsolesces reengineering of Sentinel3 mission control applications and tools and MME. Support to users in investigation andor handling in the operational usage of the Sentinel3 mission control applications and tools and MME. Provide MCAT with strong software technologies expertise in the area of web applications. Tasks will typically include Maintenance and Evolution Activities Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation and correction or following the corrections implemented by external contractors of anomalies in the software facilities and verification testing of the fixes. Engineering activities analysis of the porting of some subsystems to stateoftheart technologies, tradeoff studies of various technologies, software design of the technical solutions as following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. Maintenance of test plan and test procedures generation and updates of maintenance test plan and related test procedures at software level and at level. Support and development of the verification infrastructure development andor procurement of scripts tools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Analysis and implementation of mechanisms or tools allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the application software. Coordination of the production of new software releases or patches, delivery acceptance and installation onsite. This activity includes the technical coordination of the production by an external contractor of new releases or patches of the application software, liaison with the operational users, participation in technical reviews, participation in factory at contractor premises acceptance testing campaigns and coordination of the installation of the releases or patches onsite. Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. This activity includes preparation of test data, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, analysis of results and troubleshooting of problems. Documentation generation and updates of technical documents. Technical Assessment and Review acting as technical experts heshe will support the coordination, assessment and review process for engineering artefacts and technical documentation produced in the scope of maintenance activities. User Support Software support software support to the endusers of the application software. Ensure if specifically required operations continuity during critical periods by provision of oncall services and software support to operations. Qualifications University degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Skills The key person shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of software applications requirements definition, design, implementation, verification and maintenance. The key person shall have skills and experience in the following mandatory areas Software Engineering Maintenance Skills Experience minimum 5 years in the full cycle of development and maintenance of software application following formal software engineering processes Experience minimum 5 years definition of software requirements, architectural design, implementation and maintenance of 247 applications based on java technologies within web based deployment Experience minimum 3 years in IVV integration, verification and validation activities following formal engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, system and subsystem integration, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports and anomaly tracking. Software Technologies Skills Experience minimum 3 years in designing and implementing backend software applications using Servlet containers e.g. Tomcat, JBoss and Java programming languages for UNIXLinux operating systems Experience minimum 3 years in designing and implement web client applications using GWT and HTML 5 technologies javascript, CSS, HTML and javascript frameworks Experience minimum 2 years in designing and implementing applications based on Messaging Oriented Middleware and using ActiveMQ andor ZeroMQ as message brokers Experience minimum 3 years in designing and developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS and experience with data model design for RDBMS. It would be a distinct advantage for the key person to have knowledge andor experience with some of the following Maintenance Technical Management Skills Experience in being the technical point of contact for contractors working at offsite premises and responsible for application software evolution and maintenance. Software Technology Skills Experience in using Unified Modelling Language UML for software design. XML processing schema design, validation, parser libraries, transformation XSLT and XPath. Experience using tools for the automation of software testing. The key person shall also be assessed for the following skills and qualities Working proactively without supervision in an individual or team environment. Conducting activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, working calmly and correctly under stress. Working in teams and sharing expertise and experience with other team members. Able to commit to the plan and deliver the expected results on time or to report proactively if any deviations are foreseen. Take ownership of problems through to effective resolution. Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills and be confident to deal with a wide variety of people.
