FCA Chief sees Ford, Toyota, VW as potential merger partners

During his long, abortive quest to forge a linkage between General Motors and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles , Sergio Marchionne , chief executive, made it widely known that he is a proponent of consolidation. Indeed, more than once during that process, he said it would be the only way independent automakers could hope to survive in the highly competitive auto arena of the future.
