Dr. Tony Coles led Onyx from early 2009 until its $9.7 billion acquisition by Amgen Inc. in October 2013. Dr. Tony Coles , who led Onyx Pharmaceuticals into the waiting arms of Amgen Inc. in a $9.7 billion acquisition, is launching a company focused on discovering drugs for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Lou Gehrig 's disease.
