This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESTEC, Noordwijk Netherlands. DUTIES After an initial period of training and familiarisation within the Product Assurance and Safety Department, the postholder will be assigned as Integrated Support, to the Directorate of Galileo Programme and Navigation Related Activities and will report to the Head of the Galileo Ground Segment Product Assurance Unit for the specific responsibilities and duties outlined hereunder. For the maintenance of professional standards, for the implementation of the ESA general Product Assurance and Safety PAS policy and for contributions to corporate tasks e.g. reviews, standardisation, alerts, lessons learned, etc., the incumbent will report to the Head of the Product Assurance and Safety Department through the Head of the Navigation Product Assurance and Safety Office. Specific responsibilities and duties include Establishing and maintaining the particular project PAS requirements baseline for the Galileo ground segments in compliance with the ESA general PAS policy reviewing contractors plans, specifications and effort proposed for the execution of the project PAS programme guiding and monitoring the implementation of PAS requirements by contractors in order to assess performanceeffectiveness, participating in design reviews and directing the necessary preventive or corrective actions representing ESA in the boards established within the project for the disposition of nonconformances, failure reviews, test reviews, etc. ensuring the implementation of the software PA and software configuration management requirements baseline across the Galileo ground segments monitoring the integration and test activities with quality assurance audits, mandatory and key inspection points, test witnessing and configuration inspections supporting the definition of the formal acceptance requirements and conduct of acceptance reviews of all contractual deliverable items ensuring the preparation of design tradeoffs, analyses and reports using RAMS Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety data to support project decisions supporting security activities for ground segments as appropriate participating to periodic meetings with the parent organisational unit and contributing to the transfer of technical knowledge and lessons learned across the Agency. In the execution of these tasks, the postholder will be supported by experts from the Galileo Project team and from the ESA Directorate of Technical and Quality Management. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent in engineering, together with a background in space systems. Experience in the management of PA for a large project is required, together with a good knowledge of software and RAMS engineering techniques, preferably in the domain of aerospace development. Experience in the security domain is an asset. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills. They should have the ability to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with project, team and individual objectives. In addition, they should have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest in innovative technologies. Candidates must be eligible for security clearance by their national security administration. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these languages is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. CLOSING DATE The closing date for applications is 9 September 2015.
