Hisense, TCL launch first Roku TVs

2014-08-19 09:07:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Hisense and TCL are set to release the first TVs incorporating the Roku streaming video platform. TCL has started taking orders for four Roku TV models, from 32 to 55 inches, and the TVs will go on sale at retailers in the US in the coming weeks. Hisense will also offer four models, from 40 to 55 inches, from late September in the US. The TVs run the Roku OS, supporting streaming, on-demand and live TV. The Roku Channel Store offers access to 1,500 streaming channels with over 200,000 films and TV episodes. Users can control the TVs with a remote control or an app available for Windows, iOS and Android devices. First announced at CES in January, the Roku TVs will sell from USD 229. Roku is also offering two months free subscription to Hulu Plus with each TV.
