MTN uses OpenRAN to deploy more than 200 rural sites in Africa

(Telecompaper) MTN has announced the deployment of over 200 commercial rural sites throughout its operations using OpenRAN. MTN expects to instal more than 5,000 sites in rural areas throughout its 21 operations, bringing 2G, 3G and 4G connectivity to areas that were previously unconnected. MTN will use a network of partners to build and maintain through a full turn-key approach.
