Shares of German steel producer ThyssenKrupp AG jumped more than 8% Wednesday in what's been a painful day for the British steel industry. More than 1,000 U.K. jobs look set to be cut as Tata Steel Ltd. said it's looking into selling its loss-making U.K. operations.
