Online retailers face new Michigan sales tax requirement

A new law takes effect Thursday that will make your purchases at websites like Amazon.com and Overstock.com a bit more expensive. Digitial retailers with a presence in Michigan will now be forced to collect the state's six percent sales tax under the Main Street Fairness Law, which was passed with bipartisan support last year after a strong push by brick-and-mortar retailers.
