Roy Thompson and Hanne Torchia sort cans Tuesday at the Adams Redemption Center on Commercial Street. Massachusetts voters will have a chance to vote on an expansion of the bottle bill to include water, sports drink, tea and other noncarbonated beverage containers by voting on Question 2 on Nov. 4. PITTSFIELD -- Opponents of a ballot initiative to extend the state's container deposit law contend it would be costly to retailers and a step back from the ideal of 100 percent recycling.
