Job description For our customer, ESAESTEC, we are seeking to recruit experienced Oracle Application Developers to work as IT Engineers at ESTEC in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. This vacancy concerns two positions so it not expected all skills stated below be necessarily covered by a single person. Responsibilities You will be assigned to the Technical IT Services Section within the Directorate of Internal Services and report to the Head of the Section. This section is responsible for supporting technical IT tasks, mainly at ESAs ESTEC site. These tasks range from support to satellite launch campaigns to tasks such as IT Security, as well as support to technical laboratories. The tasks to be carried out in this position are Maintaining, supporting, and evolving where required the assigned applications and databases. Definition, design, implementation, testing, deployment and operations of new applications mainly web and databases mainly administrative oriented to support all ESA Directorates requirements. Identification of requirements for interfacing with ESA Corporate applications and the design and implementation of related interfaces with directoratespecific local applications, in coordination with related design authorities in ESA. Support to the user community in their daytoday usage of the applicationsdatabases, in particular regarding data collection, productions of adhoc reports, etc. Perform business process analysis for potential local applications and systems. Produce requirements and project documentation in close liaison with the customers and in line with the project management procedures. Provision of consultancy in information systems related aspects such as applications, technology, development methodologies, etc. In the scope of user support, you shall provide support to the user community to Provide assistance in the technical and functional use of the applications under your responsibility Address requests related to applications and products out of his scope to the relevant support groups keeping the user informed You shall provide expert advice regarding current system functionality and respond to Requests for manipulation of the database e.g. generation of specific script for data upload, application configuration, etc. Requests for data extraction, adhoc reports, etc. Troubleshooting application errors not requiring intervention of the development team. These are full time positions located at ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The requested start of work is January 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. Qualifications Competencies The successful candidate will have a Masters Degree in Information Technology or similar with a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional working experience. Required technical skills Strong experience with Oracle databases SQL, PLSQL, etc. and related database applications design and development are essential. Experience in Oracle Application Express APEX is preferred. A good experience in developing Web applications using standard application frameworks and related Web technologies. Experience with Java web development. Experience with software development Pascal, C, C, Java, Spring, Hibernate, PLSQL, Perl, PHP, VB. Proficient in Software Debugging. Required soft skills A very good working knowledge with spoken and written English language is essential. Excellent communication skills written, interpersonal, negotiation, etc. are crucial. Must be able to train and explain issues to users over the telephone and email, and to maintain clear communication with the Head of Section on all tasks and projects.
