Both a treasure house for precious metals and an Eden for Amazonian wildlife, Peru straddles a difficult course between economic development that lifts people out of poverty and environmental protection. Surprisingly, many of the working poor are opposed to the Popes environmental message, fearing that it will deprive them of jobs...
