Summary A senior engineer with a strong knowledge of data processing, calibrationvalidation and data mining in the area of big data such as climatemeteorology datasets, with an interest in developing software systems to present information and trends to end users in agriculture, water, energy or a similar market. The candidate should be able to demonstrate capability to understand scientific partners and their algorithms and to extract user requirements from commercial or governmental end users. Objective Designing and specifying EO data archives and toolsets working in collaboration with scientists plan future improvements to EO data reprocessingextractionpresentation. To support Copernicus services and EO missions, particularly with an emphasis on Atmospheric or Climate data. Responsibilities Duties Specific tasks will include but will not be limited to Design systemsalgorithms to present datainformation to end users Plan EO Archive reprocessing campaigns Respond to user queries, relating to use quality of EOclimate data products Work with, and present results to customer expert staff Work with scientific expert suppliers to meet service project objectives Work with end users to specify systems to meet user information needs in one or more of energy, water, agriculture or other markets. Qualifications Experience Experience in extracting information from data Degree or equiv in Physical sciences Remote Sensing or other relevant field Essential Skills Data manipulation and scripting Use of IT Linux systems Methodical, qualitybased approach to data handling Coordination of activities across multidisciplinary teams Desirable Skills Knowledge of Atmospheric or Climate science Broad understanding of satellite remote sensing technologies e.g. one of radiometry, LIDAR, imaging, radar Experience working with ESA EO data formats or similar meteorological reanalysisprojection formats and NetCDFCF. Handling of ESA data formats for Envisat Earth Explorer Third Party missions Software coding in a modern language or script.
