Senior Engineer, Software Luxembourg Betzdorf This project related position primarily supports the preparation of technical proposals in response to international tenders and is directly responsible for the architecture, the design, specification and implementation of the communication, networking and ground segment software system required for the satellite and hybrid communication systems. The incumbent leads and contributes to the architecting, development, implementation, and improvement of groundbased services and software systems, including the system security aspect. Key activities include the collection of SES customer requirements, the engineering of communications systems, the preparation of technical studies, reports, specifications, contractual documentation and operational guidelines and the coordination of multidisciplinary and multicultural project technical teams while working with SES internal and external customers and partners. The incumbent is responsible for attracting new projects for SES and SES Global Government in cooperation with the Sales team, heshe leads and contribute to the preparation of tenders and proposals. Primary Responsibilities Key Result Areas Lead or contribute to the delivery of multidisciplinary projects and services to international customers within the agreed budget, specification and schedule, meaning Supprt the design and implementation of system architecture and development work, including project control functions Supprt the specification, design, implementation, validation and verification of the software systems and networking facilities required Ensure the supervisin of specification, design, and development work necessary for project implementation, including project control functions Engineer, implement and maintain cmprehensive and consistent security solutions to mitigate identified risks to an acceptable level Assess system and applicatin security requirements, threats, vulnerabilities and security risks in complex, heterogeneous systems and throughout their life cycle Be respnsible for the design and implementation of softwarecomputer infrastructure andor modifications to comply with specific customer requirements such as their standards, interfaces and software and hardware technologies Interface custmer and prepare the commercial documentation such as system requirements specifications, technical system specifications, cost estimations and contractual documents in coordination with other internal and external parties Fllowup technology development in the area of expertise and make recommendations regarding evolution of SES services and products Fllowup of delivered systems during lifetime operations Prepare the cmmercial external parties Perfrm system design, handle budgets, handle procurements, manage installations and the operational handover of software systems In the scpe of the project, coordinate with other functions Project Control, Legal, Finance for the transparent and effective realization of assigned project In cordination with the Service Management team, prepare operational procedures and ensure the Third Level Customer Support for the delivered system Interface and engage with external partners e.g. custmers, NGOs, Government bodies, investment partners, vendorsproviders, shareholders, etc. Take an active part in SES Services proposal activities through the provision of Technical Specifications, Statement of Works SOWs and Cost Estimations and contractual documents, in response to customer Requests For Information RFI customer Requests For Proposals RFP, in coordination with other engineers, internal and external parties Support the coordination with other functions Project Control, Legal, Finance, IT for the transparent and effective realization of assigned projects Awareness and evaluation of relevant technological developments, market trends, competitive factors, customer requirements, standardisation licensing and regulatory aspects Proactively scopes the technical solution required to address customer requirements, assesses customers met and unmet needs, and recommends solutions that optimize value for both the customer and the firm Competencies Good project management skills incl. budget management Strong analytical and problemsolving skills Proactive approach towards potential andor current customers Good conflict management skills in a multicultural and interdisciplinary setup Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Innovative a change environment Fluency in English, any other EMEA language is considered as an asset Qualification Experience Master degree in Software Engineering, or Information and Communications Technology ICT or equivalent Minimum 5 years of applicable professional experience in engineering and implementing of large, reliable, distributed client server applications and communication protocols Sound, handson knowledge of and experience with managing system related security risks, including the assessment of system security risks, specification of security requirements, the definition of security concepts, secure system design, implementation of security controls, specification of secure configuration baselines, assessment of security controls and vulnerabilities Experience in presales engineering e.g. technical proposal, cost estimation, facing customer is an asset Proven projectbudget and time management experience Knowledge of performance, risk, cost, and schedule analysis Knowledge of the satellite technologies and satellitebased communication, is considered as an asset Good understanding of software engineering methodologies, like UML Good understanding of serviceoriented architectures SOA andor microservices, like J2EE Programming skills in object oriented, procedural and functional programming languages, like Java, CC, Angular, Python and HTML Sound knowledge with database management systems Sound knowledge with network with emphasis on TCPIP running over different physical media Familiar with UNIXLinux Operating System, Android and iOS Operating System, Virtualization platforms including VMware, Cloud Computing, DevOps automation, Ticketing Systems Knowledge of IT practices and standards such as ITIL or DEVOPS frameworks Knowledge of IT project management frameworks such as PMI or ECSS Fluent in English proficiency in other languages is a plus especially French Excellent written and oral communications skills Excellent interpersonal skills Willing to travel internationally Key Requirements NATOEU SECRET clearances are considered a strong asset.
