Slovak Ministry of Culture increases public TV, radio fees

(Telecompaper) Public radio and TV fees are set to go up in Slovakia from January 2017 to EUR 7, based on the draft amendment of the act on licence fees, which the Ministry of Culture submitted to public consultation, reports eTrend. On an annual basis, the Slovak public TV and radio body RTVS will collect EUR 84 per person per year, an increase of 51 percent from current levels. For retired people, the fee will be EUR 3.50 per month. Disabled and socially disadvantaged people will be exempt from payments. At the moment, the full fee is EUR 4.64 per month and and EUR 2.32 for retired people.
