Standard covers direct flame impingement of exterior vents.

While California code notes that attic vents should resist intrusion of embers and flames, there has not been a standard to evaluate such intrusion. ASTM E2886/E2886M, Test Method for Evaluating the Ability of Exterior Vents to Resist the Entry of Embers and Direct Flame Impingement, fills this need. Primary users will be vent manufacturers and building code officials in areas where performance criteria have been established for ventilation products used in wildfire-prone areas.
