A pedestrian runs along South Eastern Avenue in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid getting wet during a heavy rainstorm Thursday in the Las Vegas Valley. Intense storms brought rain, lightning and winds in excess of 60 mph Thursday afternoon to the Las Vegas Valley, causing traffic-snarling car accidents, mass power outages and flooding at multiple intersections, according to the National Weather Service and NV Energy.
